On July 20, 2007 at 2:50 p.m. officers of the Johnson City Police Dept. conducted a traffic stop for improper lane change and expired registration.  The vehicle was being driven by William H. Crowe with a dob of 10/09/1956 and residing at 253 Hyder Hill Rd., Piney Flats, Tn.  Mr. Crowe used what was found to be his brothers’ information during the traffic stop.  Mr. Crowe's driving privileges had been revoked due to being declared a Habitual Motor Offender.  A search of Mr. Crowe revealed him to be in possession of Valiums.  Mr. Crowe was arrested and taken to the Washington Co. Detention Center where he was charged with Identity Theft, Forgery, Habitual Motor Offender, and Simple Possession of Schedule IV drugs.  Mr. Crowe is awaiting a preliminary hearing which is scheduled for July 24, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the General Sessions Court with a bond of $21,000.00.

On Thursday July 20th, 2007, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested 37 year old William C. Ellis of 1542 Milligan Hwy #3 in Johnson City on charges of Following too closely, DUI 4th, and Refusing to submit to a DUI test.  The arrest is the result of an investigation into a traffic crash in the 500 block of Hamilton St.  He is currently being held on a $10,000 dollar bond at the Washington County Detention Center and is set to appear in Washington County Sessions Court on 07/20/2007 at 9:00 a.m.

Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Christie Coggins; 1308 E. Lynnwood Cir, Johnson City. The arrest stems from an investigation of a domestic disturbance at 703 Carter Sells Rd. #5 in which the victim was stabbed in the back. Ms. Coggins is charged with aggravated assault. She is being held in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $15,000 bond. Her court date is set for 07/23/2007.

               On 07-19-2007 officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jackie Lee White, 27 year old, white male, of 612 E Maple St, Johnson City; TN. White was arrested as a result of an investigation into an alleged Aggravated Assault that occurred on 06-24-2007. White is accused of throwing a brick through a car window injuring the victim. On 07-05-07 officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Luke Thomas Hutchinson, W/M, 309 Quail Dr., Johnson City, TN., for 2 counts of aggravated burglary, 1 count of attempted aggravated burglary, and 2 counts of theft of property under $500.00.  The arrest is the result of investigations into several home burglaries that have occurred in a residential neighborhood in Johnson City, TN.  Charges were placed in connection with aggravated burglaries at 2110 Kipping St., 1607 Idlewidle Dr., and 302 Quail Dr.  Luke T. On 07-18-07 investigators of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Deborah F Ingram, DOB 05-18-54, 124 Yarber Rd Unicoi, TN, on the charge of Theft of Property over $500.00.  Arrest came as the result of an investigation into an assault rifle that fell out of a moving van along with some other property.  Ingram observed this and recovered the rifle and left the scene with it without notifying police or attempting to have rightful owner located.  She then gave the rifle to someone else.  Ingram was arrested and charged and taken to Washington County Detention Center under a $5000.00 bond.  She is scheduled to be in Washington County General Sessions Court for a preliminary appearance on July 19, 2007.

        On 7-19-2007 officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Michael M. Bowling, 48, 508 East Fairview Avenue and charged him with vandalism over $500. The arrest stems from an investigation in which Bowling is accused of vandalizing a 1987 Nissan Pathfinder while it was parked at 515 E. Fairview Ave. Michael Bowling was taken to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held on a $10,000 bond. A court date is set in General Sessions Court for 7/24/07 at 1:30 pm.

On 07-18-07, officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to W. Watauga Ave. and I26 in reference to a vehicle traveling the wrong direction on W. Watauga Ave. Officers initiated a traffic stop on this vehicle and made contact with a passenger, Joshua Jackson Compton (W/M, 04-23-77) of Route 1, Box 234, Dungannon, VA 24245, who gave officers a fake name and birth date. A short investigation revealed Compton’s true identity. A background check of Compton revealed that he had an active warrant out of Lawrence County, South Dakota for failure to appear on a felony DWI, resisting arrest, and possession of marijuana charge. Full extradition was ordered on this warrant. When placed in custody, Compton picked up other charges including resisting arrest and simple possession of marijuana. Compton is charged with being a fugitive from justice, criminal impersonation, resisting arrest, and simple possession of marijuana. Compton is being held in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $28,000.00 bond.  Compton’s arraignment hearing is set for 07-23-07 in the Washington County General Sessions Court.

   On Wednesday, July 18, 2007, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Lamont Fortune, B/M, 26 years old, 912 Welbourne St,

 

Johnson City, and Marquis Jones, B/M, 20 years old, address unknown, for Aggravated Assault.  Lamont Fortune was also charged with Unlawful

 

Possession of a Weapon (convicted felon), and Marquis Jones was charged with False Imprisonment.  The charges are the result of an investigation

 

into an altercation that occurred at 912 Welbourne St on Wednesday evening.  Mr. Fortune and Mr. Jones allegedly assaulted another male at 912

 

Welbourne St, and the man was held against his will.  Mr. Fortune was in possession of a handgun during the assault.  Mr. Fortune and Mr. Jones

 

are both being held in the Washington County Detention Center, a $55,000.00 bond was set for each.  Mr. Fortune and Mr. Jones both have court

 

dates of July 19, 2007, at 1:30pm, in General Sessions Court.

On Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at approximately 7:30 p.m, officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to 23 Sidney St. Johnson City, in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a victim who had been shot in the lower abdomen and he was transported to the JCMC E/R for treatment. Witnesses were located and statements were obtained. An investigation into the shooting is continuing. Anyone having information is asked to call the Criminal Investigation Unit at 434-6166 or to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 434-6158.

On 07-18-07 at approximately 0200 hrs Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Sharon M Ollis, W/F, 04-23-69, 132 Fleming Rd., Johnson City TN 37601.  Ollis is charged with Identity Theft and 3 counts of Possession of Schedule III drugs.  Officers were checking a suspicious vehicle in Target parking lot and made contact with the driver, Sharon Ollis.  Ollis had no identification and lied to Officer’s about her identity.  While searching her vehicle Officer’s found Ollis’s identification and also several different types of schedule III drugs.  Ollis is being held in the Washington County Detention Center under a $11,000.00 dollar bond and is scheduled to appear in Washington County General Sessions Court on Thursday, 07/19/07 at 10:00 a.m.

On 07-18-07 at approximately 01:11 hrs, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Michael Naff, 45 yr. old W/M, of 132 Hilo Dr.  The arrest stems from a domestic disturbance where a 16 yr. old female assaulted her mother.  During the course of the investigation it was discovered that the mother was wanted out of Greene County for violations of probation.  Mr. Naff, who is the mother’s ex-husband, was aware of the charges yet continued to allow her to live with him.  Mr. Naff is charged with Accessory After the Fact.  He is currently being held at the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $5,000 bond.  He is scheduled for arraignment in General Sessions Court on 07-19-07 at 1:30 pm.

      On 07-17-07, Investigators of the Johnson City Police Department arrested a male subject identified as Gary Lynn Williams (09-22-76) 1002 Haws Dr., Jonesborough, TN  37659 on charges of Aggravated Burglary, Theft of Property over $1,000.00, and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.  The arrest is a result of an investigation into a burglary that occurred at 614 E. Unaka Ave., Johnson City on 05-05-07.  Williams was served with the outstanding warrant at the Washington County Detention Center where he is currently incarcerated on unrelated charges.  Williams has a court date set in Washington County General Sessions Court on 07-19-07 at 9:00 am.  His bond was set at $21,000.00

On July 17, 2007, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Joseph Jenkins, 08/01/1984, 304 Jenkins Road, Bluff City, Tennessee. Mr. Jenkins was charged with attempting to obtain narcotics by fraud. The arrest was the result of an investigation where Mr. Jenkins went to the North Side Hospital seeking treatment for an injury. Hospital personnel found Mr. Jenkins had prior visits to hospital facilities for the same injury. Mr. Jenkins gave false information to hospital personnel in an effort to obtain narcotics. Mr. Jenkins is currently being held in the Washington County Detention Center in lieu of a $2500.00 bond. He is scheduled to appear in the Washington County General Sessions Court on July 19, 2007.
