On Saturday, January 14, 2012, Gregory P Lewis, 36, 191 Old Stoney Creek Rd, Elizabethton, TN, was arrested by the Johnson City Police Department. Lewis was observed operating a vehicle without wearing his seat belt. A traffic stop was then conducted on the Milligan Hwy near Twin Oaks Dr. The investigation revealed that his license was revoked and that he had been adjudicated a habitual motor offender. It also revealed that he had two prior driving on suspended license incidents and a prior driving after a habitual offender conviction. Lewis was then placed in custody for seat belt violation, driving on revoked license 3rd offense, and violation of habitual motor offender law. While inventorying the vehicle, incident to arrest, a hunting knife with approximately a 5” blade, was located between the driver’s seat and console. Lewis was subsequently charged with possession of a prohibited weapon. The vehicle was seized and Lewis was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $7,000 bond pending a General Sessions Court appearance on January 17, 2012 at 9:00am.
