On 1/12/2013 at approximately 2101 hrs, Officers of the Johnson City Police Department responded to a motor vehicle theft at 705 W Market St. On arrival, officers were notified that the stolen vehicle was spotted nearby and a suspect with a gun was next to it. Searching the area, officers located the stolen vehicle in front of 705 Lehigh St with a white male suspect standing next to it. The male suspect fled on foot and entered through the back door of the residence. Officers checked the residence and found the suspect inside. The suspect was identified as Brett Ashby, W/M, 1/29/1988, of 3706 Timberlake Rd. Johnson City, TN. The suspect was arrested and charged with Theft of Property (Motor Vehicle), Evading Arrest, and Aggravated Assault. Suspect is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $21,000 bond pending arraignment in Washington County General Sessions court on 1/14/2013 at 1:30 pm.
