DATE:

TIME:

PREPARED BY:

On 8/3/14, officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested six juveniles and charged each with Aggravated Burglary.  The ages of the juveniles ranged from 9 years old to 11 years old.  Three of the six juveniles were also charged with setting fire to personal property or land.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a fire that had been started near the property of Stoneybrook Heights Apartments, 512 Swadley Rd.  Upon arrival officers learned that several juveniles had set a backpack on fire near the property and the fire began to grow out of control.  The Johnson City Fire Department was called to the scene and extinguished the fire.

While on the scene, a tenant of Stoneybrook Heights Apartments approached officers and reported that her apartment had been broken into and ransacked.  The victim of the burglary also reported that several items had been stolen from her apartment to include a backpack.  The investigation revealed that some of the stolen property was located in the homes of the juveniles and at the scene of the fire.

The six juveniles were cited and released to the custody of their parents.  All are pending court dates in Johnson City Juvenile Court.
