Academy Applications Available

The Johnson City Police Department is accepting applications for the 43rd session of the Citizen's Police Academy. The first session is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, 2014.


The nine-week academy is designed to develop a better understanding and awareness of the police role in the community through a hands-on approach.


Participants must be at least 21 years old, physically able to meet training requirements, available to attend nine three-hour weekly sessions and one eight-hour Saturday session, available to ride with a patrol officer for two eight-hour shifts, sign required waivers and agreements, and have no criminal history.


Applications may be obtained from the Johnson City Police Department Community Services, 601 East Main Street. After 5 p.m., applications may be obtained from Johnson City Police Records at the same address. Applications can also be accessed on Johnson City's website at .


Deadline for registration is August 18, 2014. Applications must be returned by that date for processing.
